Epic Universe Map & Layout – Navigating the Park

Epic Universe uses a hub-and-spoke layout. Celestial Park is the central hub, and four themed worlds branch off it through their own portals: Super Nintendo World, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk and Dark Universe. Each world is sealed off from the others by sight and sound, and the only way between them is back through Celestial Park. The Chronos tower in the middle of the hub is the park's icon, and the Universal Orlando app has an interactive map with your location and live wait times.

That layout is completely different from Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure, where you walk a loop around a lagoon. At Epic Universe, every world is a destination you go into and come back out of, so backtracking costs real time. Here is how the park fits together and how to move through it efficiently. Epic Universe layout at a glance

Celestial Park, the central hub

Celestial Park is the heart of Epic Universe. You enter through it, you pass through it every time you change worlds, and it is where most of the park's services live: Guest Services, lockers, stroller rentals, first aid and plenty of restrooms.

It has two rides, the dueling Stardust Racers coaster and the Constellation Carousel, plus the Astronomica splash pad for kids. It also has the park's biggest choice of restaurants and bars, including The Atlantic, The Blue Dragon and Pizza Moon, which makes it the natural spot for lunch and for an evening drink. The Chronos tower rises from the center and is visible from almost everywhere in the hub, and the gardens, fountains and lighting are at their best after dark.

The four worlds

Super Nintendo World

You enter through the famous green Warp Pipe. Inside, the land is split into the Mushroom Kingdom, with Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, Yoshi's Adventure and Toadstool Cafe, and Donkey Kong Country, home of Mine-Cart Madness. It is built on several levels, with interactive Power-Up Band games hidden throughout, so plan two to three hours if you want to ride, eat and play.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic

A Parisian street portal leads into 1920s wizarding Paris from the Fantastic Beasts era, with French storefronts, wizarding shops and Le Gobelet Noir. From there, the Métro-Floo takes you to the 1990s British Ministry of Magic, home of Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. This is Universal Orlando's third Wizarding World, after Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.

How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk

A Viking portal opens onto a bright, cheerful village with three rides, Hiccup's Wing Gliders, Dragon Racer's Rally and Fyre Drill, plus The Untrainable Dragon live show, a Viking training camp play area and the Mead Hall restaurant. It is the most family-friendly world in the park.

Dark Universe

A gothic gateway leads into a foggy Victorian village inspired by Universal's classic monsters. It has Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, the most intense ride in the park, and Curse of the Werewolf, a spinning family coaster, along with Das Stakehaus. It is at its most atmospheric after dark.

How the portals work

Each world is reached through its own portal from Celestial Park. The portals are themed transition zones where the architecture, sound, paving and lighting change as you walk, so you cannot see or hear one world from another. There are no shortcuts between worlds: going from Super Nintendo World to Dark Universe means walking back out through the Warp Pipe, across Celestial Park and in through the gothic gateway.

What that means for your day: allow several minutes for every world-to-world move, and plan your route so you finish everything you want in one world before heading to the next.

Landmarks to find your way

• Chronos tower: the tall spire in the center of Celestial Park, your "center of the park" marker.
• Stardust Racers: the twin coaster tracks arcing over Celestial Park, visible from the entrance and most of the hub.
• The Warp Pipe: the giant green pipe marking the way into Super Nintendo World, and one of the most photographed spots in the park.
• The Parisian facade: the ornate storefronts marking the Ministry of Magic portal.
• Universal Helios Grand Hotel: the hotel has its own entrance into Celestial Park, so its guests can skip the main gate.

Essential facilities

• Lockers: near the park entrance in Celestial Park, with free short-term lockers at rides that do not allow loose items, such as Stardust Racers.
• Restrooms: in Celestial Park and in every world. The ones by the entrance and in Super Nintendo World are usually the busiest.
• First Aid: in Celestial Park near the main entrance.
• Guest Services: near the main entrance, for ticket questions, lost and found and accessibility services.
• Strollers: rentals near the entrance, and stroller parking at the portals and inside the worlds. Tie something distinctive to yours, since team members move strollers to keep paths clear.

Using the Universal Orlando app

Set up the app before you go. It has an interactive map that shows where you are, live wait times, mobile food ordering and show schedules, and it links to your Power-Up Band in Super Nintendo World so you can track coins, keys and scores. At busy restaurants such as Toadstool Cafe, check the app as soon as you arrive for mobile ordering or a waitlist.

Navigation tips from locals

• Do one world at a time. Every unnecessary trip back through Celestial Park adds walking time.
• Go against the rope-drop crowd. Most guests rush to Super Nintendo World or the Ministry of Magic at opening. Starting in Dark Universe or the Isle of Berk usually means shorter waits and emptier portals.
• Make Celestial Park your midday base. It has the most food, seating and restrooms, and it is central to everything.
• Come back after dark. Celestial Park's fountains, Dark Universe's fog and gas lamps, and the streets of wizarding Paris look completely different at night.
• Pack for the sun. Celestial Park and the portal walkways have limited shade, so bring a hat, sunscreen and water in summer.

Tickets and getting there

Epic Universe is a separate park a few miles south of the original resort, with its own entrance and parking, so check that your ticket includes it. Universal runs shuttles from the main resort area, and the Universal Helios Grand Hotel has a direct park entrance.
